Hispanic Alumni Awards and Luncheon

Dear Friends:
You are cordially invited to attend the University of Arizona Hispanic Alumni Annual Awards Celebration and Luncheon on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 205 of the Swede Johnson Building (1111 N. Cherry, Tucson, AZ 85721-0109).
Several years ago, the UAHA Board of Directors decided to open the May meeting to the public and to bring speakers who could discuss issues regarding education and the status of education in the Hispanic community. The meeting also gives us an opportunity to recognize individuals who have demonstrated interest in furthering the goals of the UA Hispanic Alumni. We also take this opportunity to award outstanding Hispanic students.
This year's keynote speaker will be Charles "Chuck" Tatum, Dean of the UA College of Humanities. Come hear about innovative programs focusing on the Latino community, including the Latino Policy Initiative and the Media Democracy Policy Initiative. Learn more about the plan that will result in the University of Arizona becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution.
Presentation of the UAHA Community Service Award will be going to Pueblo High School Principal, Richard Carranza. Presentations of awards will also go out to Outstanding Hispanic Graduating students.
For more information or to phone in your RSVP, please call me at (520) 626-9327 or FAX your RSVP form to (520) 621-9030.
Sincerely,
Oscar Lujan
